Industrial Electronic Engineers, Inc
Industrial Electronic Engineers, Inc, designs and manufactures enhanced integrated display products. This privately held U.S. small business was established in 1946, and is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Based in Van Nuys, California, IEE’s 100,000 plus square foot facility has in-house design, manufacturing and test capabilities. IEE has delivered tens of thousands of display assemblies per year and is ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D and ITAR compliant.
Enhanced Display Design and Manufacturing
Industrial Electronic Engineers (IEE) bring the latest advances in touch displays and video architecture to ARMY warfighters in a variety of displays types and applications. IEE focuses on three main applications: Soldier Mounted and Hand-Held Display Units, Ground Based Displays and Airborne Displays.
Soldier Mounted and Hand-Held Display Units
IEE Handheld Control Display Units are COTS designed, and combine a rugged, sunlight readable display with a keypad and/or touchscreen interface designed to control military and commercial equipment ranging from automatic test equipment to radios, air-defense systems and IED jammers. These lightweight, low power, portable control display units support operation though a wide range of ambient light conditions from full sunlight days to NVIS goggle night ops. The molded composite housing ensures durable field use. Applications include Counter-IED Jammers (JIEDDO and J-CREW) as well as Counter-UAS systems.
The microprocessor-based 3.5" CDU has a QVGA color LCD display, a sealed 9-key keypad, dual mode (white and NVIS) backlight technology, and a robust serial communication protocol. This COTS designed, rugged low-power control display operates over a wide temperature range, and is sunlight readable as well as lightweight. Applicable for both Military and Commercial applications.
Ground Based Displays
As the combat vehicle role evolves to include a wider range of system interaction and manned/ unmanned teaming, the seamless integration of the warfighter in the loop becomes even more crucial. IEE is at the forefront of new crew-station concepts, delivering immersive, near-seamless wrap around displays that include intuitive touch-interactivity and a leap forward in resolution and processing for better situation awareness and a faster kill chain. These new displays build upon IEE’s product heritage of real-time imaging for fire control and driver vision, open-architecture interoperability, and ruggedization for use in extreme combat vehicle environments.
This 10.4" ground vehicle display features low latency glass-to-glass video throughput (less than 25msec connector to glass). This is critical for wheeled and tracked vehicle applications such as targeting or driver’s vision enhancements. Features a sealed, all aluminum bezel with 3 backlit push-buttons controlling brightness and day/night mode.
This rugged ground vehicle smart display features an enhanced 12.1-inch wide color TFT LCD screen with adjustable brightness that allows operation from night vision to direct sunlight. Bezel keys are night vision compatible backlit, along with white on black legend for sunlight readability. A single board computer provides a platform for operating system and application software as well as internal graphics generation. This smart display includes a dedicated high performance video processor, with low latency glass-to-glass video selection, and overlay buffer to support local symbology overlay or processor generated video. The input video multiplexer accommodates eight (8) individual video hardware connections including one HD-SDI input, one primary VGA input, up to three (3) S-Video, two (2) composite and one FLIR.
Airborne Displays
Aviators need flight and mission critical equipment that perform day or night in the most demanding conditions. IEE delivers Multi-Function Displays (MFD), Control Display Units (CDU) and mission displays for operator consoles with excellent viewability characteristics in direct sunlight, full-dark, and everything in between; including Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) compliance. IEE equipment is qualified and certified to fly on the AH-6 LittleBird, xH-60 BlackHawk, xH-47 Chinook, and xV-22. IEE products align with the latest open architecture initiatives for airborne equipment, including FACE™, SOSA™, ARINC-661 and ARINC 818.
What makes this 10.1" MFD unique is the utilization of a high performance, heavy-duty, full color, very high bright WUXGA AMLCD. Designed for fixed and rotary wing airborne applications, this very wide viewing angle display features a selectable dual-mode LED backlight for sunlight readable daytime operation and NVIS-compatible operation for night. By moving beyond full HD, this accommodates the latest high-resolution cameras and sensors.
A programmable 8-way joystick and encoder knobs complement the bezel keys to provide a full-featured operator interface supporting the control of a wide range of applications. In addition, this display supports open standard architecture with DVI and HD-SDI digital video. Optional touchscreen available.
